mi lik slep

This week, I've been very sleep deprived. Not for any really good reason. I mean, yes I've had to be up at about 5:15 but I didn't really have any good reason to stay up until 11 or 12 other than there are just so many things to do that are more fun than sleep. Someone needs to figure out a way to make sleep fun and exciting, then maybe I'd be more motivated to get more.

Potion #4

I've been watching a lot of TV lately, mostly movies and stuff on DVD. It started as a way of coping with my depression. I was finding having to be nice to people at work very draining and by the time I got home, being at all social was out of the question. I'd hide in the basement and embroider and watch and just be alone. Now its become a habit. I'm feeling a lot better lately but am still hiding in the basement. My house is a disaster and I know I have to do something about it but it just seems like too much. Its easier to hide.

I don't want to do what's easy.

Snow : A Rant

On my way to work today, I realised something. There are two types of winter drivers who make me crazy. They are:

  • The Moron with a 4x4. This person thinks he or she owns the road and insists on driving at unsafe speeds.
  • The Git who doesn't realise their car had more gears than Drive. This person also tends to push on the gas too hard and spin their tires and swerve all over the road.

We live in Canada people. Snow is a fact of life. Learn to drive.

Hugo the Human Cannon Ball

My dad took us to the circus Friday night. I hadn't been to the circus since I was about 12. We used to go to the one in the arena in Barrhead most summers. I even got to ride on an elephant a couple of times. I just love the lights and the crowd and the excitement.

We got seats 3 rows from the front across from the third ring. We had an excellent view of the hola-hooper and the horses and of my favourite acrobat. She used a long piece of cloth hung from a counter weight that she wrapped around her body and used to "fly". My other favourite was the African dancers/acrobats. They did a limbo routine that was excellent.

I heard my mom telling my dad, "Our kids are really the best age to take to the circus," (We're all in our 20s and 30s) while the 3 year old in front of us was having a tantrum.

Vaction

I'm back from vacation. I didn't actually go anywhere but I did get to sleep in every day. The plan had been to paint my sewing room. I've been meaning to do it since we moved in over a year ago but hadn't gotten around to it yet. I left all my books in the books in boxes because there's no point in unpacking twice. However, I didn't actually get started on the room until Wednesday evening. I was working on the DreadedEssay(tm) eariler in the week. I cleared out the room on Wednesday, except for the file cabinet, the shelves in the closet and the bright, happy, terrible, blue bookcase (the people who helped me move will remember it, btw, thanks again!).

Thursday, Star came over and helped me move the remaining furniture. We were nearly defeated by the Gorm shelving in the closet. I'm really not sure how I got it in there because it wouldn't come out and we couldn't figure out how to take the doors off without totally dismantling them. Luckily, Davyd was home and being the brilliant guy that he is, took out 2 screws, colapsed them down and took them out of the closet.

Friday I washed the walls (the excitment!). By the way, a sponge mop works really well for washing walls.

Saturday I patched the holes in the drywall and sanded.

Sunday I primed and painted. The room isn't quite finished yet. I still have to do a second coat on 3 walls and put up the border (tie dyed background with daisies).

Of course I also did other things last week. I embroidered. I babysat. I watched movies. I went to see Brokeback Mountain (Wow!).

And just in time to go back to work, I got a cold. At least it wasn't while I was on vaction...
