I'm another year older...

My birthday weekend was great. Friday afternoon I made a cake but when I tried to take it out of the pan it crumbled so I made Black Forest Trifle instead; it was a hit. Star and I went to see the second Underworld movie that night as well. I enjoyed it. Its not high art or anything but it is entertaining (gory and a bit graphic) but good. By the way, you don't need to remember anything about the first movie to have this one make sense (I remember seeing it but nothing aobut the plot).

Saturday we went to dinner with friends and swing dancing. Davyd and I discovered that we should not dance together, it only ends in fights (he doesn't lead, I don't follow). But inspite of that, dancing was fun. After some of us went out for coffee and dessert.

Sunday my parents took my brother and his girlfriend and D. and me out to lunch at the Cheesecake Cafe (mmmmm...Cheesecake...).

Monday I was off work and did homework. I have a big paper to write about Shakespeare's Sonnets. I'm going talk about the author talking about poetry in his poetry (are you confused yet?). It should be interesting. Oh, and I also voted.

I've been trying to come up with the words to describe my holiday season and they won't come. I've started this post several times and erased it because it doesn't do the time justice. Perhaps a list will work better.

My 2005 Holiday Season by Myrna Atwood

I spent time with lots of friends I don't see enough.

• Kristal and I only live a (relativily) short distance apart but we never manage to get together. We spent an afternoon wandering around the mall and watching a movie. I've missed talking to her.
• Jenette and I and our boys got together for lunch. I'd never met Chris (her intended) before. He seems like good people. It was great to reminise about my wedding and give advise and talk about their plans. I'm so happy for them.
• Liana and I and our boys and her Miriam had supper the same day. I miss Liana and our friendship. We used to be closer than sisters.
• Jeanne has been home. I've missed her. Its been great gaming with her and watching movies and just hanging out.
• April reappeared. I need to call her more.

I got to spend time with family

• Davyd and I spent Christmas with his family, at his mom's for the Eve and in Tofield for the Day. I feel really lucky to get along so well with my in-laws.
• We were at my parents for parts of 3 days. This year we had dinner with my dad's side of the family. Usually its Mom's. I got to see one of my uncles that I never get together with. It was good.
• I got to actually talk with my brother. It was kind of freaky but good. I hope it continues.

I got spend time with friends I see often

• Davyd was sick most of the time. We spent a lot of time cuddling on the couch watching movies.
• I went skating with Star, Eric, their kids, April and La and her kids (La didn't actually skate but whatever).
• New Years Eve was spent with Steph and Gorra watching movies. It was nice and quiet, with whiskey straight up. :)
• The Wake was great. Body Bogle rocks!

When I wasn't spending time with people, I was sewing a corset. It was supposed to be for the Wake but I didn't get it finished. Maybe I'll wear it for my birthday.

Mostly the holidays were relaxing, restful and happy.
