Tan Lines and Fairies
This long weekend was great. Friday night, Gorra, Stephanie and I planned to go to K-days, but by the time we had supper and were thinking about getting ready to go, it was 9:00. The midway was only going to be running until 11:00 so it wasn't really worth it. We decided to continue being lazy and try for Saturday.
Saturday, dawned bright but partly cloudy and I set off for downtown to meet the lads. The rides were fun (my favourite was the "Ring of Fire". Basically like a rollercoaster inside a big loop. Its very much like the upside down boat at WEM but its faster and goes over more times). The Zipper just about made me sick (I don't handle spinning in small circles well) but was still lots of fun, especially the last time around, when the cart that Steph and I were in was just at the right angle to make it seem like we were going to crash into the ground face first. :)
After getting home, I realized that I really should have wore some sunscreen. I had been wearing a scoop-neck top with a long sleeved shirt over it and I burned?(its red but doesn't hurt) my chest. I have this totally silly looking tanline. I guess I'll have to even it out soon because its going to show when I wear my wedding gown. (GRRR!!!)
In the evening, Davyd and I (and Cam and Don) went to see Kill Bill vol. 1 & 2. I enjoyed it, but my goodness is it violent (not that really expected otherwise but I'm still surprised sometimes what we let ourselves watch). I would really suggest watching them in tandem rather than apart; it really is all one story and would be less cut apart.
Sunday was a lazy-ish day, lots of reading and some cleaning, and watching of video.
Monday (second Sunday), my mom came into the city just to try "the dress" on again. The new pattern looks like its going to work much better (the armholes don't gape, yay!) but she does need to get some more chiffon. Oh well, the dress materials are still going to cost less than $200. I'll just really owe my mom (I hope Davyd realizes that when Mom gets old and senile she's going to come live with us...).
In the afternoon, Davyd and I went to Star and Eric's. Davyd to play-test a game (sorry Eric, I get the titles confused) and me to hang with Star while she looked after kids with gamers in her house. We did hang the smallest piece of fairy boarder for Aria's new room (we did it while the girls were napping) and it's going to look really good.
